  • I had dinner at the Calihooks Restaurant after a hike in the area. It was quiet but the service and food was amazing. I believe that is the charm of off season visits. I loved my steak dinner and it was one of the most tender, flavourful steaks I've ever had. The ambiance was wonderful as well. I will return should the chance arise again.

  • Skiing review - The hill is the best as far as skiing gets between Tremblant and Blue Mountain. Great staff, including instructors. Bunny hill is a nice size with conveyor belt for kids. My only complaint is they should open second lift more often.

It was our first and last time at Calabogie Peaks Resort, the place was beautiful and the rooms were great. The staff not so much, with the exception of the crew at the Ski Shop who tried really hard to help me out with getting my 3 year old to try skiing. Despite our efforts she decided not to go. We arrived at the Peaks on Dec 26 around 1pm (2 families of 4). I payed $221 for a couple of hours of skiing ( 2 adults a 3 and 6 year old ). Since my 3 year old and I was not able to go I was told to try again the next morning free of charge. The next day after running in and out of the front desk to get filters and sugar for the coffee machine I decided to go and try skiing again. Well trying skiing again does not come cheap, despite being told that I will not be charged anything, I was told by the morning staff at the ticket booth that there is nothing they could do since tickets are not refundable. After a few back and fourths I ended up paying for the lifts tickets only. Guess what the carpet lift ticket price is different for adults and different for children. The ticket booth lady the previous day had charged me the same adult price for the 4 of us. When showed them the receipt from the previous day they said they will not make a correction since they already gave me the equipment for free. I decided not to argue any longer but to go on with my day. Although the place is beautiful customer service is what makes your stay pleasant and a great experience. I wish the rest of the stuff starting with the front desk, room service all the way to the ski ticket booth members could learn from the staff at the Ski shop. It is because of them that I am giving this place a 2 star. Not worth Spending $650 for a day and a half and getting the run around.

I'm not one to give terrible ratings. I always find something lovely about a place. The hill itself is wonderful, so that's a star. The ski instructor Fraser needs schooling in how not to treat women. Hint, if what you say to a woman is something you wouldn't say to a man, it's probably not appropriate. Professional boundaries are lacking. If you're female and don't want to be harassed, find another, more professional ski school (or instructor). Tess was great though!
